Mechanism of Action of Cinnarizine
Cinnarizine is a specific competitive H1 receptor antagonist. It suppresses the vestibular end organ receptors and thus inhibits the activation of central cholinergic receptors. Cinnarizine inhibits contractions of vascular smooth muscles by inhibiting the calcium channels preferably in the arterial smooth muscle.

Interactions for Cinnarizine
Alcohol & CNS depressants: Action enhanced.
Domperidone: Enhances efficacy of cinnarizine.
Typical Dosage for Cinnarizine
Adult:
Motion sickness: 30 mg to be taken 2 hour before beginning the journey and if necessary dose can be repeated every 8 hours
Vertigo and other vestibular disturbances, vomiting in Meniere`s disease: 90 mg / day in 3 divided doses
Treatment of vascular disorders (peripheral & cerebrovascular): 75 mg 1-3 times daily.
Children 5 - 12 years:
Motion sickness: 15 mg to be taken 2 hour before beginning the journey and if necessary dose can be repeated every 8 hours
Vertigo and other vestibular disturbances, vomiting in Meniere`s disease: 45mg / day in 3 divided doses.

Effects of Missed Dosage of Cinnarizine
Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
