About SucralfatePepsin inhibitor, Anti-secretory, Gastrointestinal Agent, antiulcer.Mechanism of Action of SucralfateSucralfate is a complex of sucrose, sulfate and aluminium hydroxide. In the stomach (pH<4) Sucralfate undergoes polymerization and form viscous sticky polymers that adhere to the surface of ulcers and coat the ulcer.
It also protects the ulcer surface from further injury by inhibiting the enzyme pepsin which hydrolysis mucosal proteins. Sucralfate increases the production of Prostaglandins and protect the lining of the stomach. It also binds to the epithelial growth factor and Fibroblast factor and repair the mechanism of stomach lining.
Pharmacokinets of SucralfateAbsorption: Sucralfate is poorly absorbed after oral administration.
Distribution: It is mainly distributed to the ulcer site and the absorbed drug is distributed to body tissues.
Excretion: It is excreted mainly in the faeces and the absorbed drug is excreted in the urine.

About TinidazoleNitroimidazole antibiotic, Antibacterial, antiprotozoal.Mechanism of Action of TinidazoleTinidazole is nitro imidazole which has broad spectrum cidal activity against Protozoa and some anaerobic bacteria. Its selective toxicity to anaerobic microbes involves 1. Drug enters the cell by diffusion, 2. Nitro group of drug is reduced by redox proteins present only in anaerobic organisms to reactive nitro radical which excerts cytotoxic action by damaging DNA and other critical biomolecules. 3. .DNA helix destabilization &strand breakage has been observed.Pharmacokinets of TinidazoleAbsorption: Well absorbed orally, Distribution: Widely distributed,
Metabolism: Metabolized in liver by oxidation &glucuronide conjugation, Excretion: Excreted in urine.

About Povidone IodineIodine preparation, External broad microbicidal spectrum antiseptic.Mechanism of Action of Povidone IodinePovidone iodine is an iodophore antiseptic and is a microbicidal drug. It releases iodine from its complex and produces pharmacological actions. The released iodine produces antiseptic actions. Iodine is highly reactive with surrounding and has strong oxidizing effect on functional groups of amino acids (-NH 2, -SH etc.), Nucleotides, and fatty acids (double bond of unsaturated fatty acids). Interaction of Iodine with these groups in a cell results in disintegration of the cytoplasm, enzyme denaturation, loss of integrity in the bacterial cell membrane and fungal cell wall .These will leads to destruction of microbial protein and DNA and finally kills the microbes.Pharmacokinets of Povidone IodineAbsorption: It is poorly absorbed through intact skin but absorption is enhanced through denuded skin.Onset of Action for Povidone IodineImmediate.Duration of Action for Povidone IodineN/AHalf Life of Povidone IodineN/ASide Effects of Povidone Iodine1.Local irritation
