Distribution: Mostly by distribution to the adrenal glands and kidneys
Metabolism: Metabolised by serum endopeptidases into inactive oligopeptides and then by aminopeptidases into free amino acids
Excretion: Excreted through urine

Effects reduced by barbiturates, carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone, rifampicin. Concentrations increased by oral contraceptives or ritonavir
Intravenous, 250 mcg (0.25 mg), administered over a two-minute period
Intravenous infusion, 250 mcg (0.25 mg), administered at a rate of 40 mcg (0.04 mg) per hour over a six-hour period
Pediatrics: Children up to 2 yrs: Intramuscular, 125 mcg
Adjunct in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthrosis and Corticosteroid therapy: 1 mg daily, may give dose every 12 hr in acute/critical conditions. Maintenance: 1 mg every 2-3 days. For good-responders, may reduce dose to 0.5 mg every 2-3 days or 1 mg wkly
Infantile spasms: Intramuscular:Child: ?1 mth: 500 mcg on alternate days, adjust dose according to response
