A synthetic guanosine analogue, Antimetabolite (Purine Antagonist), Antineoplastic.
Mechanism of Action of Thioguanine
In the body they are converted into its monoribonucleotide which inhibit the conversion of inosine monophosphate to adenine and guanine nucleotides (important step in purine synthesis) of DNA. It results the inhibition of synthesis and metabolism of purines. Finally it leads to the cell death.

Absorption- Incomplete and variable absorption after oral administration.
Distribution- Distributed well into the bone marrow cells.
Metabolism: -Metabolized in the liver and in tissues to its active and inactive metabolites.
