Clobetasone butyrate
About Clobetasone butyrateA new corticosteroid, Anti inflammatory.Mechanism of Action of Clobetasone butyrateClobetasone is a topical corticosteroid. It induces peptide Lipocortins which inhibit the enzyme Phospholipase A2. Phospholipase A2 is essential for the conversion of membrane phospholipids to Arachidonic acid. From this Arachidonic acid inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins, kinins, histamine, liposomal enzymes and the complement system are produced. By inhibiting Phospholipase A2 inflammatory mediators are not released. It also inhibits the migration of macrophages and leukocytes to the inflamed area by its vasoconstrictive properties. Corticosteroids also inhibit capillary production, collagen deposition and keloid (scar) formation on the inflamed area. Thus inhibiting inflammatory mediators and other actions Clobetasone are used for anti-inflammatory conditions.
