A dietary fibre (polysaccharide), Adjunctive therapy with Insulin or oral hypoglycaemic.
Mechanism of Action of Guargum
It is a dietary fibre (polysaccharide) which forms a viscous gel on contact with water in the intestine. When given just before or along with food it slows gastric emptying, intestinal transit, reduces carbohydrate absorption and lowers blood glucose level. It also lowers serum cholesterol by about 10%.
